Learn from your own decisions.

Your work brings decisions that no textbook can set for you. The decision journal gives them a structure: the situation, your reasoning, feedback, and a place to return when the outcome is known.

The situation
There is demand in a second city, but we do not yet know the cost of acquiring customers there.
Your decision
Run a six-week pilot first. Open an office if repeat sales can cover its costs. Stop if acquiring customers costs more than the margin they bring.

The stopping condition is clear. Specify the pilot budget and the sales level that would justify an office.

FRAME

One decision. A record you can learn from.

Write while the uncertainty is real. Return when there is something to compare it with.

  1. 01

    Describe the situation

Set out the objective, facts, alternatives and deadline. Include what you do not know yet: your description becomes the case the reviewer reads.

  2. 02

Make your call and get feedback

Explain your choice, test it against the strongest alternative and commit to a next step. An AI review examines the reasoning on five FRAME dimensions.

  3. 03

    Return with the outcome

Choose a date to look again. Add what happened, read your original argument, and decide what you would keep or change.

Give the outcome something to compare with.

Once the result is known, it is easy to remember the decision as more obvious than it was. A written entry keeps the facts, doubts and alternatives you actually had in front of you.

The review helps you examine your argument before the outcome. Your later notes show what that argument missed. Together they make a more useful record than a score alone.

What kinds of decisions belong here?

Use it for a choice worth returning to: a hire, a product launch, a price change, a partner or a new market. Start with one you are facing now, while the alternatives are still real.

What does the AI review tell me?

It evaluates how you frame the decision, use facts, compare alternatives, handle uncertainty and commit to action. It works from the situation you describe; the score is feedback on your argument, not a prediction of success.

Are my entries public?

Entries belong to your account and are not published in the case library or shared with a team. When you request feedback, the situation and decision you wrote are sent for AI review.

How do I return to a decision?
